An impatient and impulsive Miqo’te man; he is quick to anger and makes quick assumptions that are hard for him to shake. Has trouble staying committed to things, relies on the soul crystal he received during his training as a monk to stay focused outside of combat. Would like to be carefree, but it’s hard when he’s usually angry about something. Bad with communication outside of combat.
Darragh’s younger brother by one year.
The World Unsundered:
- Polydeuces is appointed as the next Azem, succeeding Venat.
- His brother, Castor, is employed in bothering the convocation as a comrade to Azem. Castor is known for his aloofness and impulsivity.
- Before the Zodiarc summoning, Polydeuces leaves the convocation to try and help people – Castor follows him.
- The brother's souls are both sundered and will continue to be connected to each other as brothers in each reflection and each return from the Aetherial Sea.
The Sixth Astral Era:
1557
- Dodai Kanshi is born in the far East.
- Haluk Noigiallach witnesses the Garlean invasion of Ala Mhigo.
1558
- Haluk flees Ala Mhigo along with others willing to make the journey to southern Eorzea.
- Cathal Noigiallach is born in the black shroud to unknown parents in the summer.
- The party Haluk is traveling with find a baby girl miqo'te in central shroud abandoned (autumn); Haluk demands the party find the babys parents, but are told by local Keepers she was abandoned.
- Cathal’s bio mother is Kehda Nbolo, meaning his name, had she raised him, would have been Kehda’a Nbolo.
- Haluk impusively adopts the baby.
- Dodai is sent with a group of refugees from Doma to Eorzea by his birth parents fearing the growing Garlean presence.
1559
- Haluk's party makes it to Ul'dah where they go their separate ways; Haluk begins to attempt to settle in Western Thanalan.
- Haluk finds employment as a fishmonger in Western Thanalan, and is given temporary residence with his daughter in Crescent Cove.
- A boat from Doma lands at Vesper Bay and for a few days members of the ship debate what to do about the lone child on board.
- Haluk's employer says Haluk can take in another child alongside his daughter; after much arguing their father adopts the child. No one knew his parents before, and because the child is only a year old, Haluk gives him the name Darragh.
1560 → 1571
- The Noigiallach family takes up permanent residence in Crescent Cove as a family of fishers.
- At age 8, Haluk's daughter determines he's a boy; his father gives him the name Cathal.
- The Noigiallach family gains a reputation for keeping to themselves due to the frequent fishing trips and subsequent fishmongering and traveling that takes up most of their days.
- Due to a lack of funds and free help, Darragh and Cathal do not receive a formal education, they cannot read or write.
- Darragh joins the weavers' guild at age 9.
1572
- The Fall of Dalamud
- Cathal gains one of the eventual two scars across his face after their family fishing boat capsized from the brother's panic; he also gains a fear of swimming and some chronic side effects from head trauma.
- The Noigiallach family's chocobo dies from starvation after running from fear of the chaos caused by the calamity.
- Darragh determines he wants to be able to help people before and after tragedies strike.
The Seventh Umbral Era:
Years 0→3
- Cathal gains a reputation for getting into fights with other kids in Ul'dah; his father forbids him from leaving their stand when in the city.
- Darragh is able to roam Ul'dah on his own and starts investigating healing magic.
- Darragh moves to Gridania in order to further study magic at age 18.
Year 4
- The poor fishing off Thanalan’s west coast caused by the calamity forces the Noigiallach family to look for other ways to get funds; Cathal joins a mining company and his father struggles to find work in the city.
- Cathal meets M’aeyhs Rahz and Stephannot Haustefort at his new job.
- Darragh meets Cosmo.
Year 5
- Darragh joins the Scions of the Seventh Dawn (The events of a real reborn start here).
- Cathal is arrested by the Immortal Flames for attempting to break into a safe containing Sil'dihn artifacts; after interrogation, the Flames determine Cathal’s role to have been a scapegoat for a larger heist and begin investigating the members of the mining company.
- Cathal is given the option of parole instead of jail time, and is enlisted into temporary service for the Immortal Flames for one year. His parole is marked by an earring imbued with a tracking spell to ensure he doesn't leave Thanalan for the next year.
- Cathal begins training as a pugilist, and also starts HRT early into his parole.
- Cathal is allowed into the Gold Saucer and becomes an avid regular.
Year 6
- Haluk tells Cathal to go check on Darragh, who has been sending less and less correspondence as time goes on. Cathal sets out to find his brother.
- Cathal becomes aquainted with some of the Scions, Tataru and Urianger, who both determine Cathal is not capable enough to aid Darragh and thus will not tell him outright where his brother is so as to avoid Cathal getting hurt.
- They decide this based on the fact that Cathal does not have the Echo and that he's been adventuring for maybe a week by the time he's met them.
- Cathal begins to get on Tataru's nerves.
- Cathal finds two cats on his first journey to Gridania; he decides to give one of them to Darragh.
Year 7
- Winter-Spring
- Cathal hears about the liberation of Ala Mhigo and determines to visit Gyr Abania and see where his father lived.
- Cathal begins to take his training as a Monk seriously.
- Cathal joins Nashu Mhakaracca in her endeavor to find Inspector Hildibrand. This will continue to happen to him. Summer-Autumn
- Cathal is able to visit Gyr Abania and meet members of the M-Tribe as well; he investigates more about the Fist of Rhalgar depsite his difficulty grasping the subject.
- While trying to return to the Rising Stones in order to ask after Darragh, Cathal loses consciousness on his chocobo who takes him into Revnant's Toll for help. Winter
- Cathal is the final person to be summoned by The Crystal Exarch before he is able to finally summon Darragh.
- Cathal's body is brought into the Rising Stones and Darragh is informed that his brother had been trying to find him.
- Tataru begrudgingly allows Cathal to be cared for alongside the Scions.
The First
Year XXXX
- (Cathal is in the First for 6 months before Darragh is finally summoned)
- Cathal volunteers to help Alisae, and after working alongside her they discover they cannot stand each other outside of combat.
- Cathal returns to the Crystarium and volunteers for patrolling the city's borders for sin eaters.
- Cathal becomes involved with the Scions while in the First. On a technicality he could be called a Scion.
- Cathal intended to confront Darragh for leaving for Gridania years ago, but set it aside until he knew the next calamity would be avoided.
- Knowing Darragh is able to travel between worlds and the current state of his body, Cathal asks him to get someone to preform top surgery on him. Darragh passes on his request and Cathal is able to get the surgery as an empty vessel.
- Cathal's earring marking his parole is finally removed, years late, revealing a festering infection which is dealt with by cutting off the non-viable portions of his ear and a Lot of care.
Year 8
- Cathal gets to join the Scions about when G'Raha and Estinien join, to Tataru's chagrin.
- He is involved with the investigations into the telophoroi.
- Cathal is at Camp Broken Glass when Zenos takes control of Darragh's body; he is the first to notice something is wrong.
- When Darragh visits Elpis he meets Castor who was at the facility because he wanted to ask Venat to spar. He sought out Darragh because he thought his brother was around. Upon realizing Castor won't leave, Emet-Selch is more annoyed than before.
- Castor is not present when Darragh explains the Final Days.
- In Ultima Thule, Cathal's attempts to try and protect his brother ends in him sacrificing himself.* *I have no idea how he does this but by god I will figure it out.
- After the Ragnarok lands back on Ethyris, Darragh and Cathal waste no time teleporting to West Thanalan to see their dad again; Darragh has not seen or spoken to him since the events of ARR, Cathal hasn’t been able to see him again since he was brought into The First.
- Cathal undertakes blue magic after unknowingly agreeing to work with a Yellow Jacket to investigate a suspected con-man. He is excessively impatient about learning magic and keeps begging Martyn to let him lie about it.
- Assuming Darragh, renowned Warrior of Light and Savoir of the Star has at this point learned to read and write, Cathal begrudgingly asks G'Raha Tia if he would teach him.
- Darragh has not learned to.
- G'Raha did not know either of them were illiterate.
- Cathal is not very committed to learning though and G'Raha has to recruit Krile in the process.
Year 9
- Cathal tries to get back into fishing.
- Upon meeting Wuk Lamat, Cathal is insistent about joining her in the Rite of Succession without understanding much of the stakes, just because he finds her fun to be around.
- Cathal accompanies Wuk Lamat throughout the Rite of Succession, he is mostly unhelpful with things outside of combat but is happy to be there.
- During the Rite of Succession, he begins to pick up Warrior from Wuk Lamat.
- Cathal accompanies the group to Alexandria as well. He’s just part of DT.
