Eorzea's Worst Monk
This is a wip help
After a failure during a heist led to his arrest, Cathal’s father bailed him out, landing their family in debt and Cathal with a lifetime of favors to repay. His father’s demands are simple, “Find your brother and get a job,” but unknown to the two of them, Darragh Noigiallach is making a name for himself across the continent as the Warrior of Light. Luckily for Cathal though, the second request is easier to fulfill closer to home, the Pugilist Guild’s open for anyone interested in the practice and Cathal couldn’t be more interested! Except when he finds out there’s more to it than just punching and jumping, but by that point he’s already been asked by Chuchuto to help with Hamon and Rurukuta.
After finally graduating from Pugilist to Monk, Cathal sets off to find his brother, asking around Ul’dah if anyone’s seen a short Au Ra with purple hair anywhere and eventually finds himself standing in a cellar of some place called The Waking Sands trying very hard to understand what the Elezen man in front of him is saying about wherever his brother is. As deciphering whatever this “Urianger” was saying was proving too difficult, Cathal started the lengthy process of following in his brother’s footsteps. Wherever he goes Darragh seems one step ahead, with people mentioning how kind and helpful the Au Ra man was.
After a few years of Darragh just being barely out of reach, on his way back to the Rising Stones to ask after his brother again to Tataru Taru(who has so far been kind enough to point Cathal perfectly a few steps behind Darragh to make sure he doesn’t interfere with the Scion’s work), Cathal gets a splitting headache, hears some voice asking for his help, and then falls off his Chocobo and slams his head on the ground outside Revenant’s Toll.
For once Cathal is ahead of Darragh, finding himself in The First as a soul without a body, and talking to some guy named the Crystal Exarch who seems awfully embarrassed about the whole mix-up, but also seems shocked to learn that the Warrior of Light has a brother.
Cathal ends up following after Alisae, who, it quickly turns out, hates working with him, as he waits for The Exarch to manage to finally summon Darragh (after all, he’s summoned everyone who could possibly be close to him accidentally at this point). After Darragh’s arrival, Cathal spends his time in the first missing his cat Girtha, missing his Chocobo Captain Girth, missing the Gold Saucer, getting banned from Eulmore, missing Girtha, almost getting banned from all of Kholusia after not listening to the first ban from Eulmore, missing Girtha, becoming a worse annoyance to Emet-Selch than he could have possibly imagined in his thousands of years, watching his brother get corrupted by light, missing Girtha, etc.
After the ordeal of returning to The Source, Cathal finally gets to be an official scion, alongside some guy named Estinien, who everyone else seems to know except for Cathal. He’ll have to ask Darragh.
[I will update this with more of Endwalker later.]
