Banpresto Treasure Cruise World Journey Vol. 1 Zoro - Review

Obviously, I had to also get Zoro from this set. He has fucking chaps on!!!

This figure rules, firstly because of the aforementioned chaps but also because if you display him and Luffy next to each other you can make it so Zoro is gazing at Luffy with a little smirk on his face, what’s better than that?

I didn’t mention this on Luffy’s review but I meant to, but I think the faces on these figures are really nice. They’re simple but they’re printed really cleanly and I like that they have an emotion that isn’t just staring straight ahead maybe smiling. It’s nice. It might be the lighting in my room as I’m writing this but I think Zoro’s smirk is more on one side than the other and it (very vaguely, possibly only to my eyes) looks like he has one dimple.

His outfit’s fun, I think the matching outfits for this set are cute. I think the outfit details here are also nice, like I said in Luffy’s review. All the small details really add to these figures’ appeal for me. The chaps Zoro has are delightful, they have fringe at the bottom! I also think it’s so funny they gave him a rifle to be evocative of a sword, but only one rifle. I wish so badly he had three of them. Couldn’t possibly imagine how you’d go about using three rifles at once.

Unlike Luffy’s figure though, Zoro doesn’t have a problem standing up, and his base feels sturdier than Luffy’s (although both of them are hollow). I think this figure’s center of gravity is just balanced better than Luffy’s. Thankfully that means there’s not really any cons for this guy!

Actually, before I finish up this part of the review, this figure has a little story with it. I sometimes help out my mom with her work, because I know AE and it takes a long time to teach someone the program so she essentially hands off the work to me (no I am not contracted or being paid even minimum wage. It’s a very cool job (joke) with barely any pay and the benefits are I am allowed to live in my parents’ home still. I am still beholden to deadlines because I’m not technically an independent contractor. Don’t do this, btw). Anyways, this figure was, no joke, my pay for helping with a complicated video. Just a little life advice, always get paid in real money. This anime figure is valuable in the way that if I really had to I could sell it and make money. But don’t get paid in figures. Also don’t work for your parents and don’t learn AE (or don’t let your mom who works in marketing find out you can use AE well). Unfortunately this is the most money I’ve ever made off a project for my mother if you look at how much he cost (like 40$ off eBay)

Final thoughts:

I think this figure is charming, also silly.

Do I recommend this figure:

Yeah, but you have to get Luffy too. You can’t separate them Zoro’s pose is gazing with love at Luffy. I don’t even ship those guys but come on man. You can’t separate them.
